For a new resident quarter of Europaplatz, HRA developed a multi-storey apartment building with different orientations for different tenancies. As a meaningful and formative development concept, a pergola principle was proposed. It is not only intended to attach special importance to solidary aspects of neighbourly coexistence as a quality feature. Generously designed living and recreation rooms offer numerous additional areas with possible uses as outdoor seating, storage areas for prams, bicycles and handcarts, etc. Circulation areas are of particular importance here, as they not only open up and connect private apartments and common areas, but also become informal meeting places and social contact areas. Contact between residents is promoted and identification and acceptance of neighbours is made possible. A solid basic structure for the development of new, sustainable neighbourhoods and thus for a well-functioning neighbourhood with satisfied residents. The balance between openness and seclusion is important, in relation to the apartment but also to the surroundings. The spatial differentiation of the public and private open spaces defines the special quality of the design. (by google translate).
