There were three townhouses dating from the middle-ages on this site until the town of Laufen, in Upper Bavaria was substantially destroyed by fire in 1843. Traces of these original structures can still be discerned in the basement and lower ground floors although the building was substantially remodelled in a classical style as a hotel after the fire. The site today is a protected structure and extends from Rottmayrstraße through to Schiffmeistergasse. HRA have been commissioned to oversee the careful restoration of the original extant structure as well as to develop a significant extension to the rear. The completed project will have 54 hotel rooms with public facilities and gastronomy on the ground floors.
